The Federation Equestrian International (FEI) World Cup is an annual indoor equestrian world championship that is considered the most prestigious competition in the sport, outside of the Olympics. The event brings global recognition to Omaha. The World Cup is an opportunity to promote our arts and music to more than 16 competing countries. As a site finalist, Omaha was selected over London, (ENG) and Hong Kong (China). This is the first time that a professional sporting event of this magnitude has been held in Omaha, or Nebraska.
The Performing Arts Arena and Education Expo, will be connected to the warm-up arena. Located directly next to the education pavilion and horse exploration zone, it connects the public directly with the competitors, supported by live music and educational resources promoting Nebraska’s heritage, culture, arts and the equine industry. This up close experience is free to the public. Musicians will perform all day every day, on a stage built to support a wide genre of musical guests. An amazing opportunity to connect the disciple and poetry of sport with Omaha performers at a world class championship event. Jumps within the competition ring will feature Nebraska Landmarks and presentations, re-enactments, lectures, clinics and Native American Storytelling will be enthusiatstically received throughout the Education Expo.
A special section within the Expo will target Nebraska’s 150th, as unique offerings within the competition ring will reveal components of Nebraska’s history in relationship to equine and agriculture development. The competition will be carried on NBC network during primetime.
The World Cup will be held at the Century Link Center, which is handicap accessible.
