Nebraska’s 150 Statehood Celebration

March 1, 2017

1:00 Heartland Storytelling Festival
2:00 Music in Celebration
3:00 Cake!
On March 1, 1867, only 5 years after the Homestead Act was passed, Nebraska became a state. In total 45% of Nebraska was settled by homesteaders with homesteads found in all of the 93 counties we honor and treasure today. These settlements had major impacts on the state, bringing diverse talent and culture, and laying forth a solid foundation for continued growth of our state.

This year we celebrate Nebraska’s Sesquicentennial year. Join everyone in celebration at the Homestead National Monument of America on March 1, 2017 for Nebraska’s 150 Statehood Celebration. This event includes speaker, Darrin Crow, who will take you back to a time when immigrants were settling the west. Darrin’s presentation will be followed by music in celebration of the 150th, and that to be followed by cake.
