2nd Nebraska Country School Conference
July 14, 2017 - July 15, 2017
Our event is supported by the UNK College of Education. We have diverse speaker presentations on Friday including The Orphan Train Museum in Concordia, Kansas, The Willa Cather Foundation, The Genoa Indian School, and other historians presenting subjects such as the Dust Bowl, the Blizzard of 1888, Games of Yesteryear, and “The Last of the One Room Schools” about the closing of the school in Broken Bow, NE in the 90’s. We also have Dan Holtz from Nebraska Humanities providing music and history during lunch. Dinner in the evening is at the Arch Museum and our speaker is Senator Sandy Scofield. Saturday is a breakfast meet and greet at the UNK College of Education then a tour of the Kearney County Historical Museum and lunch.
