96th Annual Oregon Trail Days Celebration
July 13, 2017 - July 16, 2017
Oregon Trail Days is Nebraska’s longest continuous celebration commemorating Gering’s Oregon Trail history. Oregon Trail Days has been part of Gering since 1923; and has grown from a one-day parade to the 96th annual four-day event that attracts people from all over the country. A.B. Wood was one of the original planners of the celebration and his youngest son Warren designed the Oregon Trail Days logo when he was only 15; and that logo is still being used today. Today, Oregon Trail Days serves at Gering’s “bring everyone home” celebration; participants of all ages are in Gering in July for the celebration that includes parades, concerts, Old Settler celebrations, car shows, international food fair, art shows, carnival, sporting events, class reunions, chili cook-off and games that commemorate Gering’s rich Oregon Trail history. Oregon Trail Days is a family-fun four days of safe and entertaining events, most of which are free, and planned to be enjoyed by families, friends and visitors.
