History of the Nebraska Czechs Since 1867

The Omaha Czech Cultural Club (OCCC) has invited Dr. Bruce Garver, historian and professor emeritus from The University of Nebraska at Omaha, to speak at our Feb 12, 2017 membership meeting. Dr. Garver, an OCCC member for about 40 years, is writing a book on the history of Nebraska Czechs since 1867. His presentation will discuss Czech immigrants becoming Americans, and how they played  a part in the political and social life of Nebraska while preserving their Czech culture through the arts and family traditions. He will also relate how Nebraska Czechs also attended to the welfare of relatives and friends back in Europe.
