NE150 Quilt Competition Display: Clarkson Public Library, Clarkson

The Nebraska 150 Quilt Competition is endorsed by the Nebraska 150 Commission as a “Signature Event!” There were 37 entries from Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Michigan and Maryland. The judges for the competition were Nebraska’s 1st Lady Susanne Shore, Dr. Carolyn Ducey and Dianne Thomas. The first prize quilt maker, Dorothy Heidemann-Nelson of Lincoln won $1,000 from the International Quilt Study Center & Museum and her quilt will be a part of the museum’s permanent collection. The Nebraska State Quilt Guild provided $300 prize for the 2nd place quilt made by Lynn Greer of Edgar, NE and $200 for 3rd place awarded to Marilyn Rembolt of Lincoln. The judges were Nebraska’s 1st Lady, Susanne Shore (NE 150 Commission), Dr. Carolyn Ducey (IQSCM) and Dianne Thomas (NSQG). 60 guests attended a luncheon at Quilt House on Saturday, February 18, 2017 when winners were revealed.
