The event will include reenactment battles where the public will have an opportunity to talk with reenactors after the conclusion of each battle. In addition, there will be historic displays that include genuine Civil War artifacts and people can learn about the importance of the items and what they were used for. Finally, there will be two programs (or talks) over that weekend that will focus on the impact of the Civil War on Nebraska statehood and its early years as a state. The first will be presented by Dr. Spencer Davis of Peru State College and it is titled “The Impact of Reconstruction Politics on Nebraska Statehood.” The second talk is titled “G.A.R./Civil War monuments across Nebraska: The Legacy of Union Veterans” by Dave Wells, Humanities Council Speaker.
